Have you found a stray dog or cat?

We are sorry, but due to City and County ordinances, Pet Refuge is not allowed to accept stray animals.  We can help by scanning for a microchip to help you. Then we will refer you to the appropriate facility as shown below.

If the stray was found within the city limits of South Bend, please call South Bend Animal Resource Center, 574-235-9303.

If found in Mishawaka or other St. Joseph County location, please call the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 574-255-4726.

Please remember, if you adopted your dog or cat from Pet Refuge we will ALWAYS take it back.

Are you wanting to surrender a dog or puppy?

Please call the Shelter (574-231-1122), Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 3PM and ask to fill out an intake form over the phone. The form will be turned over to our Dog Dept and if we can help you, they will give you a call.

Are you looking to surrender an adult cat. a kitten or a litter of kittens?

Please call the Shelter (574-231-1122) Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 3PM and ask to be placed on our waiting list. If we can help you, someone from the cat dept will contact you.
