It's me Buddy.  Do you remember me?  Do you miss me?  Can you believe it has been one year since I left Pet Refuge to come and live with Terry and his wife Teri.  For those of who have never met me, here is my story.  I was found as a stray at a construction site when I was around six months old.  The man that found me said I had a great personality.  I was adopted by a woman on November 11, 2001.  She had a home day care business, after I bit a few of  the little kids (I thought they were snacks)  I was returned returned November 2002.  After that experience, I never cared much for children.   I was adopted out again in December 2003 to a nice guy.  I thought I had finally found my forever home.  Well in all of my enthusiasm, I knocked down his 80 year old mother, so back I came to Pet Refuge the next day.   Things were not looking good for me.  I was a real nut when the adoption events were held.  I would put on such a cute face for the people and as soon as they got close I would spring up about four feet and bark.  I really enjoyed it when the little kids would come up to my kennel, boy did I sure scare the crap out of them.  After awhile, a guard had to be posted by my kennel to warn the people not to get too close.  The cat people learned to fear me when I was running the yard, they would come out to empty the cat litter and soon rush back in when they got a look at me coming after them.  I even had a special sign made just for me that said "Buddy is out".   I first met Terry when he came to volunteer in 2003.  He had come in a few months earlier to adopt a dog; Noelle was her name, and she looked somewhat like me.   I never had any problems with him and I was never a problem for him.  Years went by with no prospects of me getting adopted again, I thought I would be staying at Pet Refuge for the rest of my life.  One day Terry put me on a leash and took me outside to the main yard.   He had brought his dogs over to see me!  He kept me on the leash that day, but the next week he came back and took me off my leash to see how I would do with his gang.  We got along great, I hoped it would never end.  The years went by and I thought I would live out the rest of my years here.  He took me home for the Christmas holidays for a few days, it felt so good to be in a home and to play with other dogs, I didn't want it to end.  He brought me back to the shelter a few days later and I went back to laying in my chair and chewing my blankie.  Well after awhile when it was determined that I would not be allowed to be adopted because of my issues, I settled in for the long haul.  Terry came back with his dogs throughout the year, what a time we had in the main yard.   Well after looking at my pleading picture all year, I guess Terry just couldn't take it any longer.  I remember it was during a Wednesday night adoption, he called his wife Teri and asked if she would mind if I came home with him.  As long as he is on a leash, were her words.  I thought I would just be going home with him for a few days, it has been 365 days now.  I have had a wonderful time since coming here.  I get along fine with his four dogs.  Terry takes all five of us for walks when the weather cooperates, if not, we get to go for truck rides to see the cows, horses and deer in the country.  I like to harass his little dog Snowball, but she doesn't put up with my crap for long.  Lately I have been playing more with Noelle.  I have come to accept his wife as someone not to fear.  I give her kisses, (and clean her ears out too) , sit in her lap and sometimes she gets to sleep with me in the big bed.  I still don't like little kids much, Terry has to warn them not to get to near when we go out for walks.  Terry keeps threatening me that if I don't act good he will take me back to PR, but I think he loves me too much now.  I just want to thank all of you for being there for me while I was at the shelter, I know it wasn't easy for some of you.  If I had been at any other animal shelter, I think I would have been put down a long time ago because of my issues.  Here are some of my favorite photos this past year.                                                                                                                                                        Buddy
