Cats in Foster Homes Available for Adoption

Since Pet Refuge is a No-Kill Animal Shelter, we always have more pets (especially cats) than we have room for at our Mishawaka location. Luckily, there are people and families willing to SHARE their homes with these unfortunate animals.  BUT, since they live away from the shelter, they are not always able to be at our adoption days, which, of course, diminishes their chances of being adopted into a permanent home with a family to call their very own!

We're hoping that, by setting up this page, we will be able to "showcase" these needy kitties and, if you see a feline (or two or three) you'd like to meet, call our office or contact us by email to arrange a convenient time to give a foster cat a chance so that we may continue our mission of caring for homeless pets!

Cat Adoptions every Thursday 6pm-8pm and every Sunday Noon-2pm

 at the Pet Refuge Shelter

KING
DOB April 2007

King is a royal looking DSH black and white male.  He loves to run around the house with the other cats chasing toys on strings. King especially likes to look out the patio door and chatter at the birds but his most favorite activity is to climb up and sit on his foster dad's shoulder and groom Dad - how sweet! He can be a bit shy at first, and will need a bit of time to adjust to a new home
but he is a very fun cat.

TOASTY
DOB 2006

Toasty is a cute DSH black and white female that was found in an empty apartment with her three babies (Pancake on the buddy cat page is one of her now grown kittens). She is very curious and playful and likes to be petted. She would do best in a quieter home as she prefers to avoid a lot of activity. Toasty would do well as an only cat being the center of attention.

SPRITE
DOB May 2008

Hi, my name is Sprite.  I'm an adorable black-&-white female short-hair, and my birthday is in May 2008.  Unfortunately, I was born with a condition called "Pulmonic Stenosis", which in cat language means that I have a heart murmur.  Because of that, I'm considered a "Special Needs" cat, so I have a reduced adoption fee.  I might need to be on meds at some time in my life, and it's possible that I might have a shorter life span, but nobody can really tell.  I could live to be a ripe old age.  As of now, I am a vibrant, playful, loving, sweet kitty.  I love people and other cats (in fact, I would prefer being in a home with other cats), but I don't think I want to be around any dogs.  I love to sleep at the feet of my humans, and I meow at them whenever I want some attention.  I really am a prize for the right family, as long as you can give me lots and lots of attention and love.  I hate crowds, though, so I'm a really naughty girl when I go to adoption events.  Please come to my foster house and see how wonderful I can be in a forever home.  You can contact my Foster Mom, Michelle, at mjdobski@sbcglobal.net or 574-210-1786.
Thank you!

BABY CHOO

DOB May 2005

Baby Choo is a dsh white & black male. Baby Choo is a very active and nosy young man. He likes to be into everything. He is not big on being picked up and held, but he loves to be petted and will let you know when he wants to be loved on. He does well with other cats (after a short adjustment period) and enjoys running around the house playing chase games with them. Baby Choo is current on all of his vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped.

**UPDATE**

Choo WAS adopted by a loving family recently but was, unfortunately, returned due to being too active and playful for the older cats already in the household. The older cats developed behavioral issues due to his presence so the family reluctantly had to bring him back.  Baby Choo will need a home with other active and playful cats or else to be an only cat in the home.

DOB January 2005

It would be hard to find a better looking cat than Wayne Wright.  This handsome DSH light orange tabby came to us very scared and very shy.  Thanks to a lot of love and patience from our volunteers, Wayne is turning into a very loving guy.  Once he gets to know you, he will shower you with plenty of kitty kisses.  He loves to be brushed and is becoming more playful.  He has been doing well with other cats and needs a home that will understand his shy side and continue to show him plenty of love and patience.  If you promise to give him time to trust you, he promises to love you forever. (Angela)

This handsome DSH black male was rescued from a house fire.  Levi loves everyone and does great with other cats.  His best friend at the shelter is Frisco (see the Buddy Cat Page for Frisco) and they can often be seen leaning on each other while they walk together (why not adopt a pair?)  He does great with children too!  Levi is the perfect combination of being both affectionate and playful.  He would be happiest in a home where he can get plenty of love, preferably with another feline friend to keep him company while you are gone.  Levi is also neutered and current on all his shots (Angela)

The irresistible Betty Davis is a brown tabby and white female who is the ultimate lap cat!  She is so incredibly sweet, but may "act" -- like the real actress herself -- a bit shy at first...perhaps playing hard to get?  Betty Davis warms up quickly, however, but will definitely need a quieter home -- especially one without small children.
