Cats in Foster Homes Available for Adoption
We're hoping that, by setting up this page, we will be able to "showcase" these needy kitties and, if you see a feline (or two or three) you'd like to meet, call our office or contact us by email to arrange a convenient time to give a foster cat a chance so that we may continue our mission of caring for homeless pets!

Bess DOB December 2008
Bess would be happy for the rest of her life doing nothing but
loving people. She loves to snuggle and doesn't mind being held.
You can't pet her enough. Playing is fun, too, but mostly she can't
get enough pettin'. In fact, if you stop, she may purr extra
loudly, and rub her little head against you to get you to start
again. Bess is in perfect health, and she's fantastic with other
cats.
She's hoping to meet someone who'll want to give her a new home - maybe someone who'll have room for one of her foster siblings, too! (Carole) |

Leona DOB April 10, 2010 Leona still doesn’t understand how someone could have abandoned her outside. She loves people and wants nothing more than to be right by your side. She will purr loudly as soon as she sees you and loves to be held and cuddled. Leona also enjoys her play time with her foster brother Journey and the two of them are never far from each other. Leona will be available at Petsmart South on Saturdays (11am-3pm) and Sundays (1-4pm) - Please note that Leona is taking a vacation from adoptions this weekend (July 31/Aug1). If you're interested in her, please e-mail webmaster@petrefuge.com and we can arrange a meeting. (Christina) ![]() |

Tabasco DOB 2005 This lovely blue-eyed boy will take a little time to adjust. But once he knows you, he will do somersaults for attention. Tabasco is a very handsome Siamese Lynx Point mix. He would do best in a family with older children and no dogs unless they are easy going and very gentle around cats. (Sandi S.) |

Jessica DOB 2009 Jessica is a 1 yr old very sweet kitty. She is a
polydactyl, or Hemingway, cat with 6 toes on each foot! She is very
affectionate and loves everybody and everything. She does well with
other cats and likes dogs too. She is playful but always has time for
cuddling. (Mary Ann)

BELLA
DOB September 2009 Bella is a beautiful Tabico (tabby/calico) kitten. Bella LOVES her foster siblings and is just starting to discover toys. She is just too cute when she is racing through her foster home, chasing a ball, wrestling with another kitten, or cuddling with one of her friends. Bella is still very shy around people. Her previous owners clearly never took the time to socialize her when she was little and Bella needs reassurance and time to adjust. After 3 months in her foster home, Bella is now at a point where she will climb into her foster mom’s lap and ask for attention - and she loves to get special treats (turkey breast is her absolute favorite!). But she does not like to be picked up and prefers to get attention on her own terms. What has helped Bella the most is her friendship with the other cats and Bella will definitely need another friendly and social cat in her new home. Bella needs a quiet, dog-free home with a patient person who will give her time to adjust. If you are willing to make this commitment, you will become the most special person in Bella's life! Paige
DOB March 2009
This gorgeous Brown Tabby/Maine Coon mix was found as a stray by another
shelter. When she originally came in, she had a severe case of flea
dermatitis and had to be shaved. Her hair has started to grow back and
she feels much better now. Just wait another few weeks and Paige will be
just gorgeous!

Evie DOB 2006 Evie is a gorgeous long-haired calico with beautiful markings. She gets along well with the other cats in her foster home as long as they keep their distance. She is not very active but will play if encouraged. And Evie loves to have her tummy rubbed! If you are looking for a sweet, laid back kitty with long soft fur, Evie is the girl for you! (Karen D.) |

Leonardo
DOB January 2006
Leonardo is super sweet and loves attention. This strikingly handsome
Maine Coon loves to play with kitty toys and makes little chirping
noises when you call his name. He was found as a stray by another shelter. One of his rear paws must have been caught in a trap at one time and was causing him some pain. To alleviate the pain, our vet decided to amputate the toes on that paw. He now walks on that foot. He can run, jump and do everything a normal cat can do. Leonardo is good with other cats and has been around small dogs. (Linda) |

Noel DOB 2005 Noel is a front-declawed female, about 5 yrs old, who was so shy when she came to Pet Refuge that she hid under a pile of towels. She's still shy around strangers but recognizes her foster mom's voice and comes out of hiding for her attention. She gets along well with other shy kitties. She's continuing to work on her socialization and would be best in a quiet home, maybe with a senior citizen who is willing to give be patient with her and give her time to adjust. (Linda) |

LAYLA
DOB December 2009 Layla is a classic brown tabby and she is cute as a button! She was born to a feral mother and spent the winter outside. When she made it into Pet Refuge in mid-February, she was initially unsure of people and was hiding for a few days. Layla has come a long ways in her foster home. She likes to be held and petted and she loves her playtime, especially her squeaky mouse and feathery toys. She is also enjoying the company of other cats and kittens and will need an active playmate in her new home! Yet while Layla is doing well around people she knows and trusts, she is still very shy of strangers. She will need a quiet home that will give her time to adjust and allow her to meet her new family at her own speed. (Christina) UPDATE: Layla has also recently discovered her love of soccer and was trying to help out Argentina by batting at the ball on the screen. |

NIKI
DOB December 2008
This Beauty doesn't miss a thing!
Actually, it may be more accurate to say Niki doesn't miss a person!
Ever! If she sees someone coming to visit, she likes to be one of the
first cats to greet that person. After all, this little opinionated
spunky girl doesn't see why she should be the second one to get petted,
when she could be the first!
Niki loves balls but mostly, she loves people. When she first meets you,
she may seem like she's playing hard to get because she'll sniff you as
if to say, "I'm just checking to see if you're worthy of me." But don't
worry; it will turn out that you ARE worthy of her, and then she can't
get enough attention. She's not a lap cat, but she loves to be
petted and will lie beside you. Yep, Niki thinks a home with a couple of
people and maybe a couple of other cats just like her would be paradise!
Maybe you could take her to your paradise? |

DOLCE
DOB December 2006
Dolce (pronounced
Dole-Chay) means "sweet" in Italian. Dolce was named this when she was
first adopted due to her willingness to climb on your shoulder and
because she likes to be cradled and held like a baby when she wants to
cuddle. While Dolce can be very sweet, she is a very rambunctious Tortie-colored
girl who loves to play rough with other cats and can be moody when she
is in a playful frame of mind. Her new owner will need to give her
plenty of time to adjust to new surroundings and other cats. Her foster
mom says she will be best with no young children and likes younger
active male cats to play with. She was adopted and then returned due to
allergies after being in a home for two years. Won't you give Dolce a
chance to finally be in a forever home? |

DOB June 2007
Suki, a FRONT DECLAWED female, is a beautiful silver and cream tabby who
is very affectionate and loves to sleep with you. She loves to
watch birds and other activity through the window and loves to play with
milk rings. She gets along with most of her housemates, but may
entertain a dream of being an only cat. She turns on her motor as
soon as she is approached and lies down for belly rubs. |

SUZI DOB March 2008 Suzi is a DSH Black female that has a tendency to run from people who are trying to pick her up but if you are sitting still she will come and seek your attention. She is also a lap cat and likes to cuddle and sleep with you at night. She is a little chunky and her diet may need monitoring. (SG) |
![]() |
LILLY DOB March 2008 Lilly is a DSH Brown Tabby that is a little shy. She is social but is not as outgoing as the other cats in the house. Lilly does like to cozy up to her cat friends and would do much better if she is not the only cat in the house. (SG) |

MUSIC DOB August 2008
Music is such a beautifully colored Tortie! She loves sitting on your
lap and purring for you. Sometimes she can be a little hand-shy when you
go to pet her but she is getting better at allowing you to pet her. She
gets along well with other friendly cats and doesn't seem to mind the
dogs in her foster home. Music gets very stressed when attending
adoption events so if you would like to meet her, let us know and her
foster mom can contact you. Music would be your best friend if you allow
her the time to get to know you. (Mary Ann) |

KING DOB April 2007 King is a royal looking DSH black and white male. He loves to run around the house with the other cats chasing toys on strings. King especially likes to look out the patio door and chatter at the birds but his most favorite activity is to climb up and sit on his foster dad's shoulder and groom Dad - how sweet! He can be a bit shy at first, and will need a bit of time to adjust to a new home but he is a very fun cat. (R&B) |
![]() |
TOASTY DOB 2006 Toasty is a cute DSH black and white female that was found in an empty apartment with her three babies (Pancake on the buddy cat page is one of her now grown kittens). She is very curious and playful and likes to be petted. She would do best in a quieter home as she prefers to avoid a lot of activity. Toasty would do well as an only cat being the center of attention. (R&B) |
![]() |
MEI QUI DOB April 2008 Mei Qui is an adorable DSH brown tabby and white female. She loves to be held and if you are not petting her when she wants to be petted, she will keep nudging your hand with her nose until you get the hint. She likes to pick things up and carry around her "treasures". She loves her head rubbed. Her name means "ROSE" in Chinese. (R&B) |

BABY CHOO
DOB May 2005
Baby Choo is a DSH white & black male. Baby Choo is
a very active and nosy young man. He likes to be into everything. He is
not big on being picked up and held, but he loves to be petted and will
let you know when he wants to be loved on. He does well with other cats
(after a short adjustment period) and enjoys running around the house
playing chase games with them. Baby Choo is current on all of his
vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped.
**UPDATE**
Choo WAS adopted by a loving family recently but
was, unfortunately, returned due to being too active and playful for the
older cats already in the household. The older cats developed behavioral
issues due to his presence so the family reluctantly had to bring him
back. Baby Choo will need a home with other active and playful
cats or else to be an only cat in the home. (R&B) |

BONZAI DOB April 2007 Bonzai is a sweet, Domestic Medium Hair Brown Tabby & White female. She is very petite and looks to have some Maine Coon mixed in her as she has the fluffy tail and prominent ear and paw tufts of hair. Her favorite thing is to jump up onto the sink and drink from the faucet. She loves playing in the water. Since she has a dominant personality, she would prefer to be an only cat, but would do ok in a house with one or two others. She is sweet and playful. Not big on being picked up and held, but likes to be petted. (R&B) |

Sushi is a
sweet dsh grey female. She enjoys being petted and playing with toys on
strings. Sushi also gets along well with other cats. She is a bit shy in
new surroundings and around new people, but once she gets used
to things, she is a very happy girl. She loves canned food and napping
in the sun. Sushi is spayed, current on her vaccinations and
micro-chipped. (R&B)

KATARINA
DOB February 2008
Despite
a rough start in life, Katarina is a real sweetheart. When she was
only 5 months old, someone tied her to the ash tray in front of Pet
Refuge and left her there. She was sick, emaciated, and scared!
Luckily, Katarina now is a picture of health and the only thing she
needs to make her life perfect is a home of her own.
Katarina
literally grew up at the shelter. When she went into a foster home
in early March, she was initially a bit shy. But after only a few
days, Katarina has settled in very nicely. She enjoys long naps in a
sunny spot on her favorite window perch, drinking out of the kitty
water fountain, and sleeping on a comfy bed. She has done excellent
with the other cats – but wouldn’t mind being an only cat and
getting all of the attention for a change. |

BOBBIE DOB 2007 Isn't Bobbie a

length, silky fur. She is playful, has a very sweet personality,
and gets along well with other cats. LG

WAYNE WRIGHT
DOB January 2005 It would be hard to find a better looking cat than Wayne Wright. This handsome DSH light orange tabby came to us very scared and very shy. Thanks to a lot of love and patience from our volunteers, Wayne is turning into a very loving guy. Once he gets to know you, he will shower you with plenty of kitty kisses. He loves to be brushed and is becoming more playful. He has been doing well with other cats and needs a home that will understand his shy side and continue to show him plenty of love and patience. If you promise to give him time to trust you, he promises to love you forever. (Angela)

LEVI
DOB
January 2004
This handsome DSH black male was rescued from a house fire. Levi loves everyone and does great with other cats. His best friend is Frisco (see the Buddy Cat Page for Frisco) and they can often be seen leaning on each other while they walk together (why not adopt a pair?) He does great with children too! Levi is the perfect combination of being both affectionate and playful. He would be happiest in a home where he can get plenty of love, preferably with another feline friend to keep him company while you are gone. Levi is also neutered and current on all his shots (Angela) |
