COCO

Coco's situation makes us very sad.  She was returned to us due to her family losing their home.  We are hoping to find her a new one so she doesn't have to stay with us for very long.  Coco is a Lab mix or possibly some Chesapeake Bay Retriever in there of 12 years old.  She is housebroken.  This gal does need a home where she has someone around her as often as possible or would enjoy taking her along for rides!  Poor Coco just gets lonely all by herself!  She tends to bully any dogs in the home so one that is just with, "her only" is needed.   So if your home does not flip the bill for her, could you spread the word?  She deserves it!

FIONA

Our little missy here is Fiona who is a Poodle of about 2 years old.  She is quite the hoot and enjoys playing with other dogs.  Fiona came from our Puppy Mill rescue group and is now ready for her new forever home.  A home with a secure fenced yard or lots of leash walking is needed.  She should do well around older children.  Fiona will need finishing work on the housebreaking.

MOLLY

Molly is a 2 year old Dachshund mix. She has nice house manners and is crate trained. She lives for a wild game of chase with her foster-brother. She'd love a home with another playful dog. She does well with cats and older children. Molly promises to run every squirrel, bird, and rabbit out of your yard. A fenced yard is required.

CASEY

Casey is a pup of about 10 weeks old.  Her breed is unsure because we received her in when she was quite young and alone and her foster Mom had to bottle feed her at first.  She may have some Poodle in her mixture due to her existing wavy coat.  Quite the spunky little gal she is "all puppy" and filled with lots of love and fun!

SMOKIE
My name is Smokie and I am a lab mix puppy about 5-6 months old. I came to Pet Refuge over 6 weeks ago. I still don't understand why my former owner got so mad at me, when I had an accident on the floor, being I am still a puppy.
 Anyway, I ended up with a broken back leg. My foster family is trying very hard to help me forget what the first owner did to me. The vet has done two surgeries on me to fix the damage. I am slowly improving. I'm a sweet boy with tons of
energy and I can' t understand why they keep trying to slow me down. Something about healing....though I don't always listen. I guess it is just the puppy in me.  I wanted to
 ask you if you could help Pet Refuge out with some of my medical bills. They have been so nice taking care of me and trying to do everything they can to give me a normal life. Pet Refuge has so many other dogs and cats to care for, that any help you give will be appreciated. I wouldn't want them to run out of puppy and  kitten treats and toys. ps. If you are thinking about adopting me, my foster mom says that I need a fenced yard  and any children should be 12 years old or older. I heard her saying that my next
 owner needs to be an experienced dog owner willing to teach me lots of obedience.  Well I don't know what obedience is, but I love treats and will do just about anything she asks, to get them.

EEVEE

Eevee is a 2 year old, Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix who is housebroken and will do fine around other mellow dogs but prefers to be the only dog if possible.   She would prefer a more quiet home that will give her all of the love and attention a little girl could want.  Older children in the home is best.

SLIM JIM

A sweet boy of 8 years old Slim Jim family could no longer care for him. He is a very mellow dog out of the crate. He love to be your best friends and be right next to you. Slim is great around dogs, cats and kids. He is a low keyed boy that would love to live out the rest of his life in a forever
home.  After a recent trip to our Vet we have learned that little Slim Jim is diabetic.  A simple two dose a day of insulin is given.

BETTY

"Oh yeah, that's the spot".  Betty is a Beagle mix of about 2 years old.  She was returned to us for not warming up to the men in the household.  She has done well around our men volunteers but a home with someone that has a lot of patience is needed so that she can adjust on her terms.  I will tell you that once she knows you, she will love you forever!  She is a smaller mix of about 40 pounds.  A home with no children would probably be best or if you have some that visit, a nice, quiet room away would do nicely.  Betty loves to run so a home with a fenced yard for her to tear around in would make her happy.

RANGER

Ranger is a 2  year old, Husky mix who is good with other playful dogs and would do best in a home with older children as he still has a lot of puppy still in him.  A home with NO cats is needed - they are way too inviting!  He is housebroken and crate-trained.  A home with a fenced yard is required. Ranger weighs about 60'ish pounds. PLEASE NOTE THAT RANGER DOES NOT ATTEND ADOPTION EVENTS. PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING HIM.

LIBBY

Shy and graceful, Libby is a 6 year old Shepherd mix who just loves to be around that special person!  She has a protective nature about her and will alert you when strangers are around the home.  Libby doesn't mind other dogs, but would do best as the only dog as she just doesn't like to share your attention and does not like other dogs in her face.  Cats are also not her favorite.  A home with teenage + children is recommended.  A fenced yard would be nice, but to help her bond with you, an avid leash walker might be just as nice for her.

EMILY

Emily is a Cocapoo of about 12 years old.  But...do not let this age confuse you - this gals energy level!  She can easily outrun many of our younger dogs at the shelter!  Emily would do well around other dogs close to her own age as even though she can outrun the youngsters, she would prefer not to put up with them!!  She enjoys going for walks. EMILY DOES NOT ATTEND ALL ADOPTION EVENTS. PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING HER.

TIGGER

Tigger is a female, Shepherd/Boxer mix of about 1 1/2 years  old.  Although she has done well hanging with other dogs during agility class, she tends to get over-powering when she lives with them, so a home with no other 4-leggers is needed.  But for the family that is looking for just that one and only special addition, she will make a wonderful one.  She is very sweet and should do fine around older children.  She loves to cuddle with you and would make a great partner to snuggle with on the couch!  A fenced yard is preferred for her.

SADIE - PRINCESS

Sadie-Lady is a 3 1/2  years old Shepherd mix.  She is housebroken, has wonderful manners, and does well around most other dogs.  Due to her protective nature, she needs more time to get used to new people, but once she knows you, you’ll be friends for life!  Sadie is very smart, knows many obedience commands, excels at agility class, and listens well.  Her favorite activities include going for long walks, cuddling, chasing squirrels, wrestling with other dogs, and agility.  A fenced yard is required.

COOPER

Lab mixes give us the happiest pictures!  Cooper is  housebroken and has very nice house-manners.  He is a playful, happy four year old lab mix. He is great with other dogs and fine with cats too. Cooper can be shy around new people, but warms up quickly. A fenced yard is preferred.

LUKE

Luke is a loving, smaller Lab mix of 6 years old.  His buddy, Mya, is pictured below and that is who he came to us with.  We believe Luke has had a tough life before coming to us and has a few minor medical issues which we would love to tell you about.  His happy and loving personality is well worth it!  A fenced yard is preferred. MYA

Mya is a Husky/Shepherd mix of 6 years old.  She came to us with Luke and will need an owner that is patient and understanding.  She is learning quickly how great it feels to receive love and attention and especially LOVES to be brushed.  Not a mean bone in this body.  She has done well hanging out with Luke, but has been known to be pushy around other dogs.  So, if you already have one, she would need to meet him/her!!  A fenced yard is preferred. CALLIE

Callie is a cattle dog of about 3 and would make a wonderful addition to your family. Callie is housebroken and does well with all dogs. She is spayed and up to date on all her shots and heartworm preventive. Callie does need a fenced yard.

BOGART (a/k/a Bogie)

Did someone say Happy? That’s our Bogie.  He is a 3 year old English Bull Dog/Boxer Mix, who when he arrived at the shelter had very little hair.  After several months of care and quality dog food , Bogie is now a very handsome dog who is looking for his forever home.  Bogie asks that his new home have a fenced yard and lots of dog treats. He also mentioned that he gets really excited to meet humans so smaller children may find him to be a lot of dog.

DOMINIC

Dominic is a 3 year old, German Shepherd mix.  "Legs" is this fellows middle name.  He knows many obedience commands but needs to be reminded that he knows them once in a while!!  A very friendly guy, he enjoys playing with other dogs and does well around children of all ages. 

ROJO

Rojo came to us due to his former owner not being able to keep him any longer.  He is a 5 year old, Siberian Husky (male) who likes most other dogs and even sleeps with the cats!  A home with older children and a fenced yard is preferred.  An experienced Husky owner is suggested.

LUTHER

Luther is a 3-4 year old, Black Lab mix with a great personality.  He loves to be around people!  He is 99% housebroken and loves to play with squeekie toys and cuddle up on a blanket.  Luther came to us from another shelter and after a trip to our Vet, we learned that his eyesight is not so good.  You would never know this, as he handles this slight disability with ease and has no problems running around in our fenced yard.  He may do well around some other dogs, but would need to meet them first.  A fenced yard is preferred.

BEAR

The smile on this boys' face is a permanent fixture as he is always happy to see you!  Bear is a Black Lab mix of about 3 years old.  He came from the Marion/Grant County shelter.  He does well around some other dogs but they need to WANT TO PLAY!  Bear enjoys going for walks and especially loves to run in our fenced yard so we hope that his new home with provide both.

SAMANTHA

Usually, there is always a happy smile on this gals face but  no....not for her picture session!  Oh well, Samantha is a very happy and great Husky/Shepherd mix of 8 years old.  She just finished her heartworm treatment and is ready for her new home.  Samantha would probably be best as the only dog in the home.  A fenced yard is required.

BO

Bo has the serious look for his picture but when you come in and meet him he is all fun and play!  Maybe he is just giving his "big boy" look for the picture?  Oh well, Bo is a 8 month old, Lab mix, black in color but has some beautiful brown shading throughout his body and even has tan in-between his webbed toes!  He is working on his finishing housebreaking work but will tell you by going to the door that he has to go out.  To date, he has not played with other dogs but has done well so far being at our shelter, next to them and soon we will have him out in doggie playgroups!  He would do best in a home with older children (has not lived with toddlers) and a fenced yard is needed.

KENDALL

Kendall is a Treeing Walker Coonhound of about 3-4 years old.  She also came from a home with multiple other dogs  and will need some finishing work on the housebreaking.  But she is catching on pretty quickly at our shelter and we can help you with further suggestions.  She is a really sweet gal who definitely just wants to please you.  She should do well around most other dogs.  A fenced yard is preferred.

HARVEY

"Oh Harvey, you are so handsome!"  Isn't he?!  We think so.  This very loving guy is a 3-4 year old, German Short-Haired Pointer who does well around most other dogs and loves to play with stuffed toys!  With a nose to the ground he loves to investigate every inch of the yard.  Harvey is very affectionate and will make the right home an excellent companion.

WALKER

A yellow lab of two years Walker is all lab. A family that would be a very active family would be good for Walker. He is a very active boy  that needs a family with lab experience. He is housebroken and good with other dogs that can hold his own. Firm obedience training will be very good for this boy as that was neglected in his up bringing.

CHINOOK

This beautiful girl is Chinook, a 4 year old Siberian Husky. She's a fun loving gal with energy to burn and love to share! Chinook has excellent house manners and is good with other dogs, kids and cats.  A fenced yard and breed experience are preferred for Chinook's forever home.

ANGEL

Angel really is our "angel" who is a Chow-Chow of about 5-6 years old.  She is housebroken and does well around some other dogs.  A home with no cats is needed.  If you come in to meet her, you will find a gal that LOVES people and loves to be brushed.  This is a good thing, because this breed needs to be brushed! 

MOJO

Here's Mojo!  Lots of energy in this guy.  Mojo is a Shepherd mix of about 2 1/2 years old.  He is housebroken and does well around most other dogs - especially females.  He gets excited when out in the yard and really enjoys barking at other dogs, children and people passing by, so he'll need some work on that or perhaps you wouldn't mind that.  A privacy fence would be nice!   He is an affectionate and loving dog.

SAMSON

Samson is a five year old Doberman mix. He loves playing with other dogs; especially small dogs. He also does good with cats and other animals. Samson is a little insecure and can be timid around new people, but is very loving once he knows you.

BROWNIE

This handsome fellow came from a home where they could no longer take care of him.  He is our Brownie and is a Lab mix of 1 years old.  This fine gentleman is quite the athletic guy and can climb over any chain link fence so a privacy fence is in order.  He enjoys spending time around people and is in need of obedience work.  He comes with lots of love to give.  A nice size companion of about 45 pounds.

ABBY

Miss Abby is a Treeing Walker Coonhound of about 3-5 years old.  She is working on the finishing stages of housebreaking in a foster home and doing better.  Miss Abby did not come from the best situation, so our foster home is giving her lots of love and attention!  She does well around most other dogs her size but no felines please!  Soon after coming to us, we learned that Abby had seizures and is on medication to keep that under control.  Her foster Mom will happily discuss this with you.  A fenced yard is preferred.

SKIPPY

A young little boy of about 1-2 years old, Skippy is probably a Toy Fox Terrier (maybe mix) who is housebroken, crate-trained and enjoys playing with most other dogs and now, can live with cats.  As one can imagine with this breed, his family calls him their "fun little circus dog"!  Skippy is looking for a family to provide lots of exercise and good times!

SHEBA

Sheba the Doberman came to us from someone that could no longer keep her.  She is a 5 year old gal that is full of love in her heart for people.  She is a wonderful girl and enjoys a good lean and being petted.  A home with no other 4-legged pets would be best and a fenced yard.

HANNAH

Hannah originally came to us from another shelter.  Hannah-girl is a 4 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd/Cattle dog mixture.  After a short adoption for her, she was returned and we learned that she has some incontinence issues which are being worked through with medicine.  Perhaps this is why she ended up at a shelter? We can talk to you about some ways to help with this issue.  Lots of love and kisses you will receive from this gal if you give her a chance.  She is a good girl that will make the right family a great dog.  A fenced yard is preferred.

WYATT

Does this happy face not say a thousand words?  Wyatt is a Lab mix of 2 years old.  He enjoys playing with other dogs and has lived with children.  He was given up due to personal family issues and doesn't want to have to stay at the shelter for too long.  He is housebroken and a fenced yard to run and play in is preferred.  He is a bigger boy weighing about 70 pounds.  He also does have ears but they went flat to his head every time I would take a picture of him!

PANDA

And then there is Peaches!  This gal with the stunning eyes is also a Husky mix of one years old.  When she first came to us, she was a little more on the shyer side but quickly came out of her shell and now is ready for anyone that will give her a great belly rub!  Like her partner in crime, she also enjoys a nice dig or two in the yard, but again, with continued exercise and obedience, she will make someone a wonderful companion. 

NANCY

Ok, so I apologize to our wonderful Nancy for cutting the top of her head off when taking this picture!  As with most Labs, one must be very quick when trying to take that perfect picture and I really liked her smile in this one!  She's a great Labby girl of about 6 years old.  She does fine around most other dogs and has lived with cats.  Nancy knows LOTS of obedience commands and will even speak for a treat.  A warm and loving personality, Nancy should do well around children and since she could stand to loose a few pounds, a fenced yard or, long daily walks would be nice. 

TITUS

Titus is a 5-7 month old Lab mix with perhaps some Border Collie in him.  He still needs to grow into his ears and tail, and should be 40-50 lbs when full gown.  He was found as a stray, and had a hard
time on the streets.  He can be a little insecure because of this, and would greatly benefit from continued obedience work to boost his
confidence.  He bonds very quickly to women, but does well with men too.  He is super sweet, and loves to cuddle.  He especially likes to sleep curled up at the foot of your bed.  Titus is housebroken, crate trained, does well around cats, and LOVES other dogs that will play with him.  He should do well with older children (+8).

BELLE

Belle of the Bone is a 10 month old Lab/Coonhound mix.  She lives with other dogs, a cat and a baby. She's good with children, housebroken, and crate trained. She knows some basic commands, but will benefit from obedience training. She needs room to run (those lanky legs cover a lot of ground), so a fenced yard is required. She will be available for adoption July 01st. Come meet her at the shelter and learn more!
 

GREYSON

DAISY

This poor girl had a good start to life then it all went sour. Her first family though they were giving her to a good home ....but that home gave her away. She really is a very nice beagle....not much energy and a real sweetie. If you are looking for a first dog this girl could fit the bill. She is good with kids, dogs and not much trouble at all. Can you make Daisy's new home her last?

GARRETT

The vet thinks I'm a Great Dane, and perhaps border collie mix. I am a young boy perhaps just a year old so I might grown a little bit more. I love other
dog, love to play, and am just an all around good dog. I'm having a great time at Camp K-9 where I am fostered and earning my manners. Do you have
room for a big boy like me?

BAYA

A sweet girl between 3-5 years, Baya is a gem. She is one of the puppy mill rescues but is very social and loves to be around other dogs. Baya will need the special attention that mill survivors require and a lot of love. She loves to sit on your lap. On her adventure to a fosters for an overnight visit she
discovered paper. Boy did she love to rip that up. She also found a shoe and carried it in her mouth. Everything will be new to her. The vacuum, stove,
radio. Are you the right person to help her through all those sounds she's never heard. She will reward you in the long run.

GOLIATH

Meet the bad haircut Goliath. He is a Bichon of about 3-5 years old. Goliath has a big name for such a small dog but his personality is as big as his
name. Goliath was a rescue from the puppy mill in southern Indiana and his goal is to find his forever home. Are you that special person? Goliath love
all dogs and people. Just a little patience and you will have a gem of a dog.

KIRBY

We're not exactly sure what Kirby DNA is but he's 100% cute. A young boy of just over a year Kirby has energy. He will need to learn some basic
obedience as he's last owner didn't take him for the training.  Kirby  loves to play with other dogs and he needs that. He is currently at Camp K-9
learning to be a dog and learn his dog manners. Are you that active family that would like a sweet boy?

DUKE

Duke is a German Shepherd of 2 years old.  He is very smart and knows several obedience commands.  He does well around most other dogs and is housebroken and crate trained.  Duke will need a home that has previous Shepherd experience and can work with him on continued obedience and manners.  A home with teenage+ children and a fenced yard is preferred.

MILO

Milo is a Hound/Australian Shepherd mixture of about 2 1/2 years old.  He has done well around some other dogs and at one point cats, but would need to be re-introduced.  Small children tend to make him nervous so a home with older ones is needed as well as a fenced yard for lots of exercise time.  He enjoys playing fetch with any kind of ball and knows a few obedience commands.
