PICKLES

DOB May 2009

Pickles is a very fun and playful 2-year-old brown tabby with darling white markings. He is outgoing, personable, loves toys and playing with other cats and would probably do just fine with dogs. Pickles will make a great family cat! He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on shots and very healthy, but he will need to be on special food to prevent crystals.

TIBERIUS

DOB January 2010

Our volunteers say that Tiberius is an all-around awesome cat. He looks like a tiger with mesmerizing yellow eyes. He is very playful and will reach out with his paw to give a swat when you pass by. He is curious about what is going on and very social. He has a loving side too and will snuggle when he is ready. He would make a great best friend for some lucky human. Tiberius plays well with some of the cats like Dougie but is a bit much for some of the other cats. So this handsome boy needs a home where all are ready for his energy level and love.

Front Declawed
ODIE

DOB May 2007

Odie is a people cat. He loves to play with people and he loves to be petted and brushed. He even follows some volunteers around the cat room. But Odie is not a cat who wants to be with other cats. His dream is to be in a home where he can have lots of people attention but no other cats.

ALISHA

DOB March 2006

Alisha is a lovely big girl with wise eyes. She likes people and the volunteers say that she answers to her name. Although she is friendly with people she is a bit aloof with other cats. Her favorite activities include napping in the sunny window and spying on folks from a high vantage point. She loves to curl up in laps and would so like to be in a quieter place like a nice home. Maybe yours.

KOKO

DOB July 2007

Koko is a sweet easy going cat who likes people.

JERSEY

DOB April 2006

Jersey is a bit shy at first but he warms up quickly and will cuddle on your lap. Although ok with other cats Jersey is a bit uncomfortable with dogs but children are ok.. Jersey is hoping that there is a special person out there who has a place in their heart for a loving orange cat. Is that you?
LIAM

DOB March 2007

Liam loves being petted and sometimes reaches out for more if our volunteers stop. He likes to lounge in one of the cat trees. Liam is one of those rare cats who just seems to take things in stride.

 BUTCH CASSIDY

DOB May 2010

Butch was originally returned to Pet Refuge with his best friend Sundance (who has been adopted without Butch). Butch is still a bit overwhelmed and tends to hide in the big cat room - even though he is starting to relax a bit more (see picture). Butch was playful and happy when he was with Sundance but tends to get nervous when surrounded by a lot of cats. It would be wonderful if Butch could go into a home with another cat.

ANGEL

DOB January 2005

Angel has a sweet loving side and is a favorite among many volunteers and people that know her. However, it isn't easy to live up to a name like Angel and this girl also has her ornery moments when she gets stressed. We recommend that she go to a loving home with an experienced cat person. And, who knows, she might even be sleeping underneath the covers with you!

MERRY

DOB December 2007

Merry loves mouse toys and adores chin rubs. She would rather not have anyone pick her up and hold her because she is a very independent girl.

SAM SAM

DOB April 2006

Sam Sam needs a low stress home with no small children. He has done well around with cat friendly dogs as long as they are not too energetic.

SHADOW

DOB July 2007

Shadow's family moved to a place that did not allow cats, so Shadow suddenly found himself without a home and in a very strange and scary place.  He is nervous and hides but we are hoping that in time he will learn that people are here to help him and there are good things going on.  Shadow needs a home that is quiet and filled with love and patience.
FRANCES

DOB December 2006

This pretty girl with her lovely large gold eyes is a very active cat.  We are told that she is fine with cats and dogs.  She likes water too. So she needs a place with toys and cat trees and maybe a fountain.  Well a girl can dream and Frances is dreaming of a home that would be her cat heaven.
MAMA MIA

DOB November 2009

Mama Mia likes people and loves to be petted and she is very playful.  She is very independent and has lots of personality.  Mama Mia would shine in a house with no other cats.
MISS PAULINE

DOB October 2009

Miss Pauline is a shy gal who loves to cuddle in your arms once she gets to know you. It may take some time for this to happen but our volunteers say that she's worth the extra effort!

ABE

DOB January 2007

Abe is a cat with beautiful white fur and long, distinguished whiskers. He is very laid back, gets along with other cats, and is very affectionate and sweet towards people. He would be a fine choice for families with children, or anyone looking for a laid back little buddy to brighten up your household.

Amos hanging out with his friend Abe
AMOS

DOB: January 2007

Amos is an outgoing and adventurous cat with many hobbies. When he's not entertaining you with his toys, he always makes it known when he wants attention with little head-butts. If that doesn't work, he'll jump in your lap and bat at your earlobes as he plants himself on your shoulder. He loves to be brushed, and adores being the center of attention. If you're looking for an active, affectionate cat, he may be the companion you're seeking.

TAFFY

DOB October 2007

Taffy is a very pretty little Calico girl who is a bit cautious of people at first, but with a little time, she warms up as she gets to know you.  She tolerates other cats but doesn't interact with them much.  She would thrive in a quiet home with a warm lap to sleep on!

BARRON

DOB October 2008
Barron is a cute orange and white tabby with a very affectionate and loving personality. He is a little socialite that loves being around people, and his sweet and laid back attitude helps him live well around other animals as well.
CINDERELLA

DOB 2008

This pretty tortie girl is about 2 years old.  Cinderella was found with her kittens as a stray.  She is still very shy and will take some time to warm up to you.  She would probably do well in a home with another laid back kitty or as an only cat. She is now spayed, her kittens are weaned and Cinderella is ready to find her forever home.  Cinderella loves canned food, even better than any treats!

Front Declawed
BETSY

DOB: July 2005

Betsy is playful cat with colorful fur markings that match her personality. Her adorable white paws and whiskers give her a bit of a clown look, and her friendly and charming personality match the association well. She loves to run and play to get your attention, and then rubs up against you for some cuddle time. Betsy has likely had problems with being roughed up by people in the past, and just wants a family that will treat her well and let her show her shining personality.
ALBA

DOB: May 2004

Alba is an inquisitive cat that likes keeping an eye on whatever is going on in her domain. She has quite the sassy personality, and likes things to be just the way she likes them or she'll voice her displeasure. Alba is an opinionated cat with lots of personality, and would be fine in a household with other pets.
SWEETIE

DOB: February 2006

Sweetie is a peaceful and sweet cat (true to her name). Her former owner was an older lady, and she has the perfect temperament for such a companion. Sweetie can be shy at first and it takes some time for her to feel at home, but some encouragement and TLC will win her over and get her to show that warm personality of hers that matches her warm brown eyes.
CYPRESS

DOB: MAY 2009

Cypress is a nice, easy-going tabby cat with striking eyes and a beautiful striped fur coat. She is a mother of 6 beautiful kittens, and likes to always be aware of her surroundings. She loves to follow you around and find out what's going on around her, and then makes a show of curling up somewhere comfortable so you can come over and give her some attention.
BELLA

DOB: November 2007

Bella is a beautiful little girl with a sweet but occasionally moody disposition. She tends to get frazzled easily, which can make her a little grumpy and prone to act out in various ways. For this reason, she is looking for a patient and peaceful family to help her feel at home and alleviate her natural tendency to get frazzled easily. Bella reacts well with other cats as well as around well-behaved children.

CHANDLER

DOB: March 2009

Chandler is a cute little guy that's just over a year old and is full of spunk. He's still got a lot of kitten in him, and loves to entertain people and campaign for their attention at all hours of the day. If you're looking for a cat that is devoted to filling your life with amusement, he's a great match.
TONY TORNADO

DOB: May 2009

Tony Tornado is appropriately named, as he likes to zoom all over the place, and occasionally plays hard to get, especially around people he just met. Once he warms up to you though, he takes time out of his zooming around to come over and get some attention from his favorite people. He is an entertaining cat that's easily spooked but quick to recover, and wants someone special to love.

GOLDIE

DOB: August 2005

Goldie is an animated little torbie with a beautiful gold-colored face. She was found as a stray and quickly warmed up to having people in her life. She has a sweet, welcoming demeanor, and enjoys sitting on your lap or next to you and keeping you company. The secret to being her best friend is to rub her belly, which she loves more than anything. Her beautiful face and lovely demeanor will brighten any household.
TOBY

DOB: April 2007

Toby is a big, handsome charcoal-colored cat. He tends to get startled easily, but warms up to you quickly with some patience and time, and is a very loving, cuddly boy. When he's finished getting attention from his human friends, Toby enjoys spending time on the windowsill following moving objects outside very intently. He would do best with an easy-going family that's looking for a furry companion to love.

SAMMIE

DOB: May 2007

Sammie is a gentle, sweet cat that is shy upon first impression. However, she is a friendly and peaceful companion once she warms up to you, and enjoys sleeping on the bed with you. Although she prefers not to be held, she likes attention from those she trusts, and wants to be a quiet companion for someone special. She is great with other cats, and very gentle with her claws.

Sammie has blocked tear ducts that give her face a bit of a rough look at first, but they don't affect her vision, and she simply needs her face wiped every couple of days to reveal the pretty face beneath.
DEREK

DOB: February 2008

Derek is a playful little guy that was originally adopted out as a kitten, but returned earlier this year. He likes to roll around and play, and can be ready to entertain everyone in the room at a moment's notice - as long as it's not naptime. He likes to be top cat in the household, and would prefer hanging out with people over other cats, although an understanding owner might be able to change his mind.

FRONT DECLAWED
CASSIE

DOB: December 2006

Cassie is a beautiful long-haired Tabico that is front declawed and has recently had a dental. Cassie has been adopted out and returned after some issues in her home, but she has been on her best behavior ever since she returned to the shelter. She is a friendly cat, but she would prefer a quiet home without children

CINDY LOU

DOB: August 2008

Cindy Lou is a pretty cat with great markings and inquisitive eyes. Her former family had to return her when they developed cat allergies, and now she's looking for a new home. She is a very even-tempered cat that would make a great addition to families with children, and loves to let you know when she needs to have some attention. If you're looking for a furry companion to make you feel welcome when you walk in the door, she's your girl.

TEDDY

DOB: March 2007

Teddy is a big handsome orange cat who loves to play.  He likes attention, but as he gets overstimulated easily, he would not be a good cat for a family with young children.  He will occasionally pick on his feline friends, but he is easily retrained.  Can you resist Teddy’s fun, happy face?

MRS. DASH

DOB June 2008

Mrs. Dash, a pretty Torbie, got her name when she was dumped at the shelter with her babies and promptly escaped from her carrier, making a “dash” for freedom – she didn’t realize how lucky she really was to be with Pet Refuge!  After we found Momma hiding in our kitchen area, she was renamed Mrs. Dash. She has a bit of skin missing around one of her eyes but it doesn't affect her vision or eye health.  She's a very affectionate girl and would love a home of her own.

SMUDGE

DOB October 2007

Smudge is a beautiful, short-haired white & gray cat.  He is an energetic guy who loves to play fetch with his toys and play.  He also likes to gently wrestle with his caregivers.   Smudge used to be very feisty and would scratch and bite, but he has calmed down and is now quite cuddly.  When Smudge is not busy with those activities, he enjoys a sunny spot to nap in.

POLLY

DOB January 2006

Polly is a cute little black & white girl with half a black moustache.  She's very friendly and is always waiting for volunteers at the door when they come in.  Polly sees every visitor as a new opportunity for nothing but good things.  She's learned that people mean good times – both playing with her and loving on her.  What a sweetie! Polly gets along with other cats, and she is hoping someone will fall in love with her as much as she falls in love with him/her, and that they will take her away to her forever home.

 PEANUT

DOB  May 2007

Peanut is a sweet little black cat with a white bib.  She gets startled easily and will run away if you approach her without warning, but she is very cuddly if you don’t surprise her.  Since Peanut lives with many other cats, she is reclusive at our shelter, but in a home she would become a different, happy cat.  Will you bring her into your home?

CECILY

DOB October 2007

Cecily is a cute black & white girl with a little stub of a tail and an adorable half mustache. She really enjoys the company of other cats and she can frequently be found cuddling with her best friend Bridgette.

Cecily is a little shy when she first meets you, but once she allows you to pet her, she wants you to pet her forever! And that's part of her diabolical plan: Get someone to start petting her, then fall in love with her, then take her home so she can have her happy ending.

BRIDGETTE

DOB December 2004

This girl wants a home so badly - preferably with her best friend Cecily.

Although she's shy and needs a little time to get to know you, Bridgette gets friendlier and friendlier the more time you spend with her. She has the most beautiful eyes and she has NO teeth, but she eats just fine anyway! She’s nice to other cats and if you don't mind coaxing a cat out of her shell just a bit - then Bridgette hopes you'll consider her.

LENNON

DOB June 2007

Lennon has a face that radiates the wisdom from his streetwise soul. Lennon has seen some hard times - he was a stray, living all alone in a big, scary world.  He was lonely, hungry, thirsty, and frightened until a kind lady took him off the streets. He still doesn't like it if you come at him too quickly, but if you go slowly, he'll start to relax and become affectionate. In fact, people who know him well, find him to be very mellow. He’s always lying around, napping, looking outside and thinking what a wonderful place Pet Refuge is. Lennon gets along with other cats and he's young and healthy, born in just 2007. Lennon is a beautiful cat - with eyelashes to die for. All he's looking for is a home where he can get past his initial jitters, and melt into the wise, wonderful cat he really is.

KIMMIE

DOB November 2008

Kimmie is a pretty little orange-and-white cat.  She is very playful, and will play catch-me-if-you-can.  She likes to be approached gently so she can take a moment to sniff your hand and observe who you are. Though little is known about her past, you almost wonder whether something frightening once happened to her, because she's so wise and cautious. Kimmie just needs a home that will understand her and earn her warm, furry trust. There's a lot of very profound love that she has to give. She just needs her chance.

RASCAL

DOB September 2006

Rascal is a very handsome seal point Siamese.  He was rather unceremoniously dumped in our parking lot by a lady who said she found him.  The poor guy had quite the infestation of fleas - so much so that his skin was all bumpy and sore.  Rascal is all fixed up now, though, and is ready to find his new home.

Rascal was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplesia which makes his movements seem uncoordinated. However, Rascal is a well adjusted cat and can get around without a problem.

Rascal and Tangerine (see Buddy Cats) have recently formed a friendship in the MCR and it is so adorable!  You can frequently find them cuddled together sleeping in their favorite bed.  We're very happy about this, especially for Tangerine's sake.  Tangerine has been with us for a while and is somewhat shy, so she goes unnoticed by potential adopters.  We sure would like to see Rascal and Tangerine adopted together so they can be friends forever.

If you like to learn more about cerebellar hypoplesia, check out: http://youtu.be/dJQG6V1MOVY

KIARA
FRONT DECLAWED
KIARA

DOB August 2006

Kiara and Kovu (who has been adopted) originally came to Pet Refuge together as kittens.  They were adopted together but then both returned to the shelter when they developed behavioral issues because of stress in the home.

Kiara is on a special prescription diet for the time being to help her digestive system recover.

ZOEY

DOB November 2006

"Brush me, I'm beautiful!"  Princess Zoey is a big, Black & White, loveable girl whose favorite things in the world are a good brushing and a nice belly rub.  In fact, she likes being brushed so much that you'd think she was perpetually getting ready for a date!  Zoey is good with other cats, and is very eager for you to bring her home to her new palace.

Zoey is currently on Cosequin for bladder health and will have to be on this medication for the rest of her life.

SHASTA DAISY

DOB October 2007

Shasta Daisy, a Dilute Calico, is a tiny cutie that came to Pet Refuge without many social skills.  She's still a little feisty but is getting better every day as far as her human interactions are concerned.  She gets along very well with the other cats at the shelter.

PANDA BEAR

DOB September 2008

Panda Bear got his name from not only his Black & White coloring but also from his rounded ears that were a result of frostbite damage.  The poor little guy has spent most of his life outdoors without much human contact so is still in need of some socialization.  He plays a little rough so he would be best in a home with patient adults.  He gets along well with the other cats at the shelter.

PETAL

DOB April 2008

Petal is a cute, pudgy white with brown tabby girl that is very friendly and playful.  She also has an adorable meow and will answer you if you call out her name.  Petal also gets along well with other cats and warms up to new people quickly.  Petal would make a great addition to just about any household.

HERMAN

DOB April 2006

Herman is a long-haired, Seal Point Himalayan mix.  He loves to play with feather toys and balls.  Herman was originally found as a stray, and apparently had a narrow escape from a cruel person, as he had been shot in the right front foot and is now missing two toes.  However, his injury does not prevent him from playing and cuddling with his human friends.

GERRY

DOB October 2005

Gerry is a shy Blue Gray DSH girl whose meow sounds like a growl (and, sadly, frightens the others cats with whom she lives).  She likes to be petted and loves her morning treats.  She would probably do best in a quiet house with no other pets since she doesn't really like other cats (or kids).

RICKY

DOB September 2007

Ricky is a beautiful, black & white boy with medium length silky fur.  He is a little shy at first but quickly warms up to you once he knows you.  Ricky likes to play "give me 5" - hold out your hand, palm up, and wiggle your fingers and he'll slap it with his paw.

Ricky's favorite place at the shelter is in one of the cat tree nests where he loves to let the volunteers pet him and rub his belly.   He would do best in a quiet, calm household that will allow him time to get comfortable in his new surroundings.  He's fine with other non-aggressive cats or by himself.  He does not like to be held and hides when there are loud noises or sudden movements.

*Update 1/20/09*
After a recent stay in a foster home we have a couple of additional comments on how Ricky acts in a home:
At the foster's house, his favorite place was in one of the cat tree nests where he would like to be petted and get a belly rub.  He liked to play in his water dish and loved his morning treats.  He would do best in a quiet, calm household that will allow him time to get comfortable in his new surroundings.  He'd do fine with other non-aggressive cats or by himself.  He does not like to be held and hides when there are loud noises or sudden movements.

BONNIE

DOB January 2005

Miss Bonnie is a pretty dilute tortie with a cute little pink nose.  She was found in a church parking lot and was cared for by the church's congregation, but Pet Refuge took her when the weather turned cold.  Bonnie loves people, and tolerates other cats if she can be the alpha cat.  She LOVES to play!

EMMIE

DOB September 2006

Emmie is a beautiful blue gray short hair spayed female. She would prefer to go to a quiet home without any cats or kids.

MERRY CLAIRE

DOB March 2007
Merry Claire is a pretty orange tabby & white female,  She was found under a car in the parking lot of Claire's Boutiques around Christmas time (hence the name!).  She likes to be petted and enjoys high places to nap. Merry would be best as an ONLY CAT.
